Help

Answers to the questions we get most often.

Getting Started

What do I need to run LiftProof?
An iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch on iOS 17 or later. LiftProof is native SwiftUI and is not available on other platforms.
Do I need an account?
No account, no email, no password. LiftProof uses Sign in with Apple only when you opt into iCloud sync between your own devices.
What happens the first time I open the app?
A short onboarding walks through logging style and picks a starting template. You can skip it and go straight to a freestyle workout.
Can I import data from another app?
CSV import from other lifting apps is on the roadmap but is not shipping yet. You can start fresh or back-fill a few recent sessions by hand.
Which program should I start with?
If you are new to programming, Linear Progression or StrongLifts 5×5 is a safe first pick. Intermediate lifters usually choose 5/3/1 Beyond or GZCLP.

Logging Workouts

How does set logging work?
Tap a lift to open the set modal, enter weight and reps, and tap complete. Rest timer starts automatically so your hands stay on the bar, not the phone.
Can I edit a set after the workout?
Yes. Open any past session from History, tap the set, and change weight, reps, or RPE. Edits recalculate volume and estimated 1RM.
How do freestyle workouts work?
Tap "Freestyle workout" on the Today tab. Add lifts as you go, drop or swap what the gym does not have, and the session saves like any other workout.
Can I customize the rest timer?
Yes. Default rest is set per lift and can be overridden per set. The timer runs on the Watch too, with a haptic when the interval ends.
Does Apple Watch logging work standalone?
The Watch mirrors the set view so you can complete reps and read rest without the phone. The phone is still the primary device for editing a session.

Programs

Which programs are built in?
5/3/1 Beyond, Linear Progression, Push/Pull/Legs 6-Day, GZCLP, Starting Strength, StrongLifts 5×5, Texas Method, and Upper/Lower Split. Custom templates are supported too.
How do I switch programs?
Open Programs, pick a new template, and confirm the swap. Old history stays intact. A deload week is suggested if you switch mid-block.
Can I customize a built-in program?
Yes. Fork any built-in program and change lifts, rep schemes, or weekly layout. Your version saves alongside the original.
Can I write my own template from scratch?
Yes. Custom programs support blocks, waves, and percentage-of-1RM targets. Templates can be exported and shared as files.

Subscription & Billing

What does LiftProof cost?
$10 per month or about $80 per year with a 7-day free trial. Billing runs through the App Store on your Apple ID.
How long is the free trial?
Seven days. The full paid feature set is unlocked during the trial. Cancel before day seven to avoid the charge.
How do I cancel?
Cancel any time in Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions on your iPhone. Your data stays on your device after cancellation.
Monthly or yearly?
Monthly is flexible. Yearly works out to roughly 33% off. Both plans unlock the same features.
How do I restore a purchase on a new device?
Sign in with the same Apple ID and tap "Restore purchases" on the paywall. The subscription re-activates without a second charge.
Does Family Sharing work?
Yes. Both monthly and yearly plans support Apple Family Sharing, so up to five family members on your Apple Family can use LiftProof from one subscription.

Data & Privacy

Where is my workout data stored?
On your device, in Core Data. There is no LiftProof cloud that could leak. Your lifting history never leaves your devices unless you choose to export it.
Does iCloud sync work between my devices?
Yes. iCloud sync between your own iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch is opt-in and routes through your private iCloud container, not our servers.
What does LiftProof read from Apple Health?
Heart-rate and workout signals, only with your permission, and only for in-session context. We never upload health data to our servers.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Paid plans can export every logged set, rep, and weight as CSV. The file is yours to keep or move elsewhere.
How do I delete my data or account?
Delete the app and your local data goes with it. If iCloud sync is on, remove the app from iCloud in Settings > Apple ID > iCloud to clear synced copies.
